The new work by A Perfect Day is the proof of truthfulness of the motto "Italians do it better", in fact even in a genre of purely American matrix such as hard rock the Italian band founded by Andrea Cantarelli (Labyrinth) demonstrates a talent, a freshness and a unpredictable approach that makes “With Eyes Wide Open” a work able to compete with the most known international names.
In this album there is everything that may interest a passionate of the genre such as powerful guitar riffs, refrains that are memorized during the very first listen, a scratchy but also warm and engaging voice (Marco Baruffetti) and a rhythm section that seems to work together from a lifetime (Gigi Andreone on bass and Alessandro Bissa on drums).
Tracks such as the opener PULL ME OUT, GIVE IT AWAY and MAMA SAID immediately convey the idea of what is described above while WHATEVER YOU WANT ME (TO DO), THE LOVE WE’VE WAITED and ALL OF MY LIFE are rock ballads that seem to have been written in the eighties and then to have been rearranged with modern sounds in which Marco's vocal lines are superlative. STARLIGHT is a song that we will be compelled to sing immediately after the first listening, so great is its ability to involve as is the perfection of the solos and refrains that it contains.
THE HIDEAWAY stands out for its suggestiveness, especially in its initial part where Andrea's guitar and Marco's voice introduce a mind-boggling hard rock. THE ROOTS has a more modern RNR mood that the band as a whole seems to master with great class. IN MY ROOM is worth to be mentioned for the mighty guitars and for the immense choral work of the band (one of my favourite pieces).
What can I say guys… We have waited so long for the successor of "A perfect Day" of 2012 but it was worth it. We look forward to great live stages for the promotion of "With Eyes Wide Open" alongside bands that currently fill the arenas around the world, we are sure you will not disfigure at all.

La nuova fatica degli A Perfect Day è la dimostrazione della veridicità del motto “Italians do it better” infatti anche in un genere di matrice prettamente statunitense quale l’hard rock la band italiana fondata da Andrea Cantarelli (Labyrinth) dimostra un talento, una freschezza ed un approccio mai scontato che rende “With Eyes Wide Open” un’opera in grado di competere con i più blasonati nomi internazionali.
In questo disco c’è tutto quello che può interessare un appassionato del genere come riff di chitarra granitici, refrain che vengono memorizzati durante il primo ascolto, una voce graffiante ma anche calda e coinvolgente (Marco Baruffetti) ed una sezione ritmica che sembra lavorare insieme da una vita (Gigi Andreone al basso e Alessandro Bissa alla batteria).
Tracce quali l’opener PULL ME OUT, GIVE IT AWAY e MAMA SAID rendono da subito l’idea di quanto descritto sopra mentre WHATEVER YOU WANT ME (TO DO), THE LOVE WE’VE WAITED e ALL OF MY LIFE sono delle rock ballad che sembrano essere state scritte negli eighties per poi essere riarrangiate con sonorità attuali in cui il cantato di Marco è superlativo. STARLIGHT è una song che subito dopo il primo ascolto saremo costretti a cantare tanta è la sua capacità di coinvolgere e tanta è la perfezione degli assoli e refrain contenuti.
THE HIDEAWAY spicca per la sua suggestività in special modo nella sua parte iniziale in cui la chitarra di Andrea e la voce di Marco introducono ancora un hard rock da capogiro. THE ROOTS ha un mood più modern RNR che la band nel suo complesso sembra padroneggiare con gran classe. IN MY ROOM è da segnalare per le possenti chitarre e per l’immenso lavoro corale della band (uno dei miei pezzi preferiti).
Che dire ragazzi… Abbiamo attesto tanto per il successore di “A perfect Day” del 2012 ma ne è valsa assolutamente la pena. Auspichiamo grandi palcoscenici per la promozione di “With Eyes Wide Open” accanto a band che attualmente riempiono le arene di mezzo mondo, siamo sicuri che non sfigurerete… anzi!
