Reverend's new album "We Are Chaos" reminds us, even more, how long gone are the days of the "Antichrist Superstar" and "Mechanical Animal" in which the last "cursed" rock star in the history of music was born. Today after an intense and already transitional album such as "Heaven Upside Down" of 2017, Manson still amazes his fans with an intimate, intense work full of socially topical themes that aim, more than anything else, to highlight the trend of mankind towards its inevitable self-destruction.

Musically, "We Are Chaos" is the album you do not expect, the alternative rock proposed is even more "rock" and the voice of the histrionic artist is even more masterful while maintaining all his charge of malice as if he were a prophet among us humankind and who, despite everything, want to send messages of warning, hope and redemption

Songs like the singles WE ARE CHAOS, DON'T CHASE THE DEAD and then also PAINT YOU WITH MY LOVE, HALF-WAY & ONE STEP FORWARD, SOLVE COAGULA and BROKEN NEEDLE seem to address the entire work on sounds that bring back the never-too-much missed "The Thin White Duke" but all with thrilling connotations thanks to the obscure dimension that only Manson's voice can reach. There is a sort of bizarre, fascinating, and appropriate balance between the sweet and light notes and the Mephistophelic vocal performance for which Warner he has always stood out; perhaps from today in addition to the already numerous titles of Manson we should also add that of “Duke” ...

RED BLACK AND BLUE, INFINITE DARKNESS and KEEP MY HEAD TOGETHER are musically the only links with what has been done in the past, especially in the second part of his career on records such as "The Pale Emperor" and "Born Villain" in addition to the aforementioned "Heaven Upside Down”, where the typical Manson’s sound is very recognizable, while PARFUME has an even more enthralling, catchy approach and whose refrain appears very recognizable from the first listening.

In my opinion the final vote to a disc must be given yes in an objective way but it must be above all based on the emotions that the same disc is able to convey and I am convinced that at least in 2020 there are no works able to equal art (even the cover is a painting by Manson) present in “We Are Chaos”, a work that will be remembered for years to come.

Il nuovo album del Reverendo “We Are Chaos” ci ricorda, ancora di più, come siano ormai lontani i tempi dell’”Antichrist Superstar” e del “Mechanical Animal” in cui nasceva l’ultima rockstar “maledetta” della storia della musica. Oggi dopo un album intenso e già di ulteriore transizione come “Heaven Upside Down” del 2017 Manson stupisce ancora i suoi fans con un’opera intima, intensa e pregna di tematiche socialmente attualissime che mirano, più di ogni altra cosa, ad evidenziare la tendenza del genere umano verso la sua inevitabile autodistruzione.

Musicalmente “We Are Chaos” è il disco che non ti aspetti, l’alternative rock proposto è ancora più “rock” e la voce dell’istrionico artista fa ancora di più da padrone mantenendo tutta la sua carica di malignità come fosse lui un profeta in mezzo a noi genere umano e che, nonostante tutto, voglia inviare messaggi di avvertimento, speranza e redenzione.

Brani come i singoli WE ARE CHAOS, DON’T CHASE THE DEAD e poi PAINT YOU WITH MY LOVE, HALF-WAY & ONE STEP FORWARD, SOLVE COAGULA e BROKEN NEEDLE sembrano indirizzare l’intera opera su sonorità che riportano al mai troppo rimpianto “Duca Bianco” ma il tutto con connotati da brividi grazie alla oscura dimensione che solo la vocalità di Manson permette di raggiungere. C’è una sorta di bilanciamento bizzarro, affascinante e azzeccato tra le note dolci e leggere e la performance vocale mefistofelica per cui Warner si è sempre contraddistinto; forse da oggi oltre ai già numerosi appellativi di Manson dovremmo aggiungere anche quello di Duca…

RED BLACK AND BLUE, INFINITE DARKNESS e KEEP MY HEAD TOGETHER sono invece musicalmente gli unici legami con quanto fatto in passato, specialmente nella seconda parte della carriera in dischi come “The Pale Emperor” e “Born Villain” oltre al già citato “Heaven Upside Down”, dove è riconoscibilissimo il tipico sound mansoniano mentre PARFUME ha un approccio ancora più trascinante, catchy ed il cui refrain appare riconoscibilissimo sin dal primo ascolto.

A mio parere il voto finale ad un disco deve essere dato si in maniera oggettiva ma lo deve essere soprattutto sulla base delle emozioni che lo stesso disco riesce a trasmettere ed io sono convinto che almeno nel 2020 non ci siano opere in grado di eguagliare l’arte (anche la copertina è un’opera pittorica di Manson) presente in “We Are Chaos”, opera che sarà ricordata negli anni a venire.
