Resurrection: Beginning of the End is the much appreciated come back of the Polish thrashers Astharoth, a band active since 1988 that, after a long break that began in 1994, stops the delay with an inspired, dynamic, and impactful work. The proposed Thrash Metal is characterized by the important obscure charge that exudes from its notes through the voice and the guitar of Jarek Tatarek (founding member of the combo) as perfectly demonstrated by the intro RESURRECTION and by the intense PERFECT BUTCHERY, a piece not purely Thrash but closer to a classic Heavy Metal that captivates and attracts.
The next DENIAL AND HATE is, instead, a hard hit delivered directly by the Bay Area at the end of the 80s. There are many irons in this fire, really a lot, as in CATASTROPHOBIA characterized by a mid-tempo of true masters and using keyboards that embellish the sound in amazing way, while Jarek's rough singing is breath-taking and gives that suggestive and ethereal touch. A catacomb guitar arpeggio gives prestige to the subsequent BETWEEN RAGE AND DESPAIR, a track that lays and develops on a very captivating atmospheric base and which subtly flows towards the final part and then explodes into an almost magical melody. The initial structure is repeated in MOTHMAN, but here everything is interrupted by a Thrash from the top of the class which is also followed in the subsequent and obsessive THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE MYSTERY to be remembered also for a splendid guitar solo and for vocals particularly incisive. LUNACY BY DESIGN is the trace that in my opinion remains immediately impressed among all, especially due to the importance of its refrain. AWAITING A MIRACLE rises for the class with which it was composed (recalling the best Megadeth), while the final and instrumental BEGINNING OF THE END marks, through its complex melody, a new chapter for the band that we hope will have a successor as soon as possible.
The new Astharoth album coincides with 50 minutes of great music that flow quickly and in an enjoyable way. We hope the band gives us the chance to hear even more over the next few years… We really feel like it!

Resurrection: Beginning of the End è il gradito ritorno dei thrasher polacchi Astharoth, band sulle scene dal lontano 1988 che, dopo una lunga pausa iniziata nel 1994, rompe gli indugi con un lavoro ispirato, dinamico e di impatto. Il Thrash metal proposto si contraddistingue per l’importante carica oscura che trasuda dalle sue note attraverso l’ugola e la chitarra di Jarek Tatarek (membro fondatore del combo) come perfettamente dimostrato dall’intro RESURRECTION e dall’intensa PERFECT BUTCHERY, pezzo non prettamente Thrash ma più vicino ad un classico Heavy Metal che coinvolge e trascina.
Mazzata direttamente consegnata dalla Bay Area di fine anni ‘80 è invece la successiva DENIAL AND HATE ma di carne al fuoco ce n’è, e tanta, come in CATASTROPHOBIA caratterizzata da un mid tempo da veri fuoriclasse e dalle tastiere che impreziosiscono il sound in modo superbo, mentre il cantato ruvido di Jarek e’ da mozzare il fiato e dà quel suggestivo ed etereo tocco in più. Un arpeggio di chitarra catacombale dà lustro alla successiva BETWEEN RAGE AND DESPAIR, traccia che si poggia e sviluppa su una base atmosferica molto accattivante e che scorre subdolamente verso la parte finale per poi esplodere in una melodia quasi magica. La struttura iniziale si ripete in MOTHMAN, ma qui il tutto viene spezzato da un Thrash da primi della classe che trova anche seguito nella successiva ed ossessiva THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE MYSTERY da ricordare anche per un assolo di chitarra memorabile e per delle vocals particolarmente incisive. LUNACY BY DESIGN è la traccia che a mio parere rimane per prima impressa tra quelle all’interno del lotto soprattutto per l’importanza del suo refrain. AWAITING A MIRACLE si eleva per la classe con cui è stata composta (ricorda i migliori Megadeth), mentre la conclusiva e strumentale BEGINNING OF THE END segna, attraverso la sua complessa melodia, un nuovo capitolo per la band che speriamo abbia seguito il prima possibile.
Il nuovo album degli Astharoth coincide con 50 minuti di ottima musica che scorrono velocemente ed in maniera assolutamente godibile. Speriamo che la band ci dia la possibilità di ascoltare ancora altro nel corso dei prossimi anni… Ne abbiamo voglia!
