“Too Close to the Sun” is the second album by the British Bloodmores, a band that blends Thrash, Death and Metalcore in a superb way and with an uncommon freshness. The backbone of the proposed sound is however a very technical, clean, and well produced Thrash embellished by the scream and growl of the excellent vocalist Alex Cunliffe and supported by Richard Jodrell on guitar, Connor Heelis on bass and Chris Mansell on drums.
Tracks like VIRULENCE and TERMINAL DIAGNOSIS immediately make clear the intentions of the quartet who, through unprecedented sound violence guided by an impressive technique, pushes on the accelerator triggering a headbanging Thrash bomb that has not been heard for quite some time. In ENTOMBED IN THE FIRES OF ARMAGEDDON'S WOMB it is the melodic Death that takes over with still amazing results, also including some ideas closer to Black metal as true veterans. A more cadenced rhythm in the following CRYPT OF THE BLASPHEMOUS pumped up high, while a heavier attack characterizes the subsequent WHITE NOISE which in its development accelerates towards a past-times Thrash, but it is the variety of this piece that is truly captivating and inspired. The title track TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN has a more metalcore mood at times almost Rock ‘n roll with a particularly incisive refrain. Back to heavy beats in the following songs SUICIDE PACT, BURIED IN AN UNMARKED GRAVE (almost a Black metal piece) and HUSK (superb Thrash) while more varied, dynamic with almost Viking metal cues is the final DEFIANT TO THE END but it is the performance of the band (only at their second album) to be absolutely much above the average.
Too Close to the Sun is an extreme Metal work to pay close attention to, Bloodmores with this important work have laid the foundations for a bright future. We will continue to support them as they deserve but do not miss the opportunity to listen to these wonderful notes.

“Too Close to the Sun” è il secondo album degli inglesi Bloodmores, band che fonde Thrash, Death e Metalcore in maniera superba e con una freschezza fuori dal comune. L’asse portante del sound proposto è comunque un Thrash molto tecnico, pulito e ben prodotto impreziosito dallo scream e growl dell’ottimo vocalist Alex Cunliffe e supportato da Richard Jodrell alla chitarra, Connor Heelis al basso e Chris Mansell alla batteria.
Brani come VIRULENCE e TERMINAL DIAGNOSIS mettono in chiaro sin da subito le intenzioni del quartetto che, attraverso una violenza sonora inaudita guidata da una tecnica impressionante, spinge sull’acceleratore innescando una bomba thrash da headbanging come non si sentiva da tempo. In ENTOMBED IN THE FIRES OF ARMAGEDDON’S WOMB è il Death melodico a prendere il sopravvento con risultati ancora stupefacenti, presenti inoltre degli spunti più vicini al Black metal da veri veterani. Ritmo più cadenzato nella successiva CRYPT OF THE BLASPHEMOUS ma pompato all’inverosimile, mentre un attacco più Heavy caratterizza la successiva WHITE NOISE che nel suo proseguo si velocizza verso un Thrash d'altri tempi, ma è la varietà di questo pezzo ad essere veramente accattivante ed ispirata. La title track TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN ha un mood più metalcore a tratti quasi Rock ‘n Roll con un refrain particolarmente incisivo. Si ritorna a pestare di brutto nelle successive SUICIDE PACT, BURIED IN AN UNMARKED GRAVE (quasi un pezzo Black metal) e HUSK (Thrash da veri campioni) mentre più varia, dinamica con spunti quasi Viking metal è la conclusiva DEFIANT TO THE END ma è la performance della band (a solo il suo secondo album) ad essere assolutamente sopra la media.
Too Close to the Sun è un lavoro di Metal estremo a cui prestare molta attenzione, i Bloodmores con questo importante tassello hanno posto le basi per un roseo futuro. Noi continueremo a supportarli per come meritano ma non fatevi sfuggire l’occasione di ascoltare queste meravigliose note.
