Hits hard this new album from Ancillotti. The band, made by members of Strana Officina and Bud Tribe (but who really doesn’t know that?), has reached its third album, usually considered the one of the “diploma”, showing even more than before their unique style based on a direct and powerful heavy metal without compromises. Ancillotti have been helped in this work by some guest musicians for backing vocals and keyboards and let me say that the result is really devastating!!
FIGHTING MAN introduces this war preamble with choirs and approaching war sounds just before the Ciano Toscani’s guitar starts to shred immediately followed by the youngest member Brian Ancillotti on drums. Bud’s voice is warm and powerful as ever, inciting to stand up and fight the war always with renewed strength. Ciano’s bridge and solo are sublime and set the coordinates of an excellent album made by the whole band. REVOLUTION is the first single taken from the album, fearless pushing us to remain true rockers supporting that rock revolution that Ancillotti have always been and keep on transmitting from stage and studio works. The melodic refrain shall be sing loud at concerts together with Bud’s fascinating voice and charisma making this song a real hymn of Rock and Metal.
War comes back in the next FIREWIND, with sadder lyrics that are counterbalanced by a faster song, heavy speed like, that again exalt the guitar/drums duo with Bid’s basslines embracing and harmonizing. In the second half of the song, the pounding rhythmic lines evoke the march of soldiers giving a sense of ineluctability. WE ARE COMING is the Ancillotti’s anthemic manifesto, really sharing the feeling and the passion of being always on the road to bring Rock wherever possible, to bring exaltation and mutual feelings with fans. BLESSED BY FIRE, centre of the album, is a touching song in which the fight is now not for a war but to support the suffering of a friend being close to him and transmit the fire for a last glimpse of Life.
BROKEN ARROW is the name of an American native, depicted in the song, that fights for his own land and people. The track is the most melodic of the whole album, and Bud’s emotional voice makes it clear that is a topic deeply felt for the band. The chorus, intertwined in the guitar solo, makes this song my personally favourite of the album. ANOTHER WORLD starts fast with an amazing guitar riff that will surely make a lot of headbanging live, representing the opposing feeling of sadness for the world awful condition and the hope for a better one to come. In the scream of “Hear me calling” there is all the desire to change for the better. Once more Ciano gives proof of excellent skill throughout the whole song.
Dark circus announcer, beside terrible horrors and evils, announces FRANKENSTEIN, a pure and powerful heavy song where the drumming of Brian is in great evidence and the raw voice of Bud is able to recreate the mind and vocals sound of the sad creature whose only fault is to have been created a monster. Song is dedicated to all “freaks” who cannot get to love and be loved how they deserve to despite being humans like all others. Among the best tracks of the album.
TILL THE END, second single released, closes the album in an incredible way kicking asses and punching in the stomach with one of the best heavy metal song recalling the glorious days of metal. It is impossible to not follow the rhythm with the head and to not sing loud “Oh keep your head, life is ours I say”. Cannot wait to join the moshpit below the stage while raising the fist inciting the band to run even more fast and join them in the fight!

Picchia davvero duro il nuovo album degli Ancillotti. La band, costituita da membri della Strana Officina e Bud Tribe (ma chi davvero non li conosce?!?), è arrivata al suo terzo album, di solito considerato quello della “maturità”, dando ottima prova, semmai ce ne fosse bisogno, del loro stile basato su un heavy metal potente e diretto senza compromessi. Con gli Ancillotti hanno collaborato a questo album svariati ospiti, per le voci di supporto e tastiere. Lasciatemi dire che il risultato è stato davvero devastante!!
FIGHTING MAN introduce questo preambolo di Guerra con cori e suoni di distruzione incombente, subito prima che la chitarra di Ciano Toscani inizi a macinare riffs seguiti a breve distanza dalla batteria di Brian Ancillotti, il più giovane della famiglia. La voce di Bud è calda e potente come sempre ed incita ad alzarci e combattere le nostre guerre cercando sempre di trovare la forza in noi. I bridge e l’assolo di Ciano sono qualcosa di sublime e definiscono le coordinate, insieme al resto della band, di un lavoro senza dubbio eccellente. REVOLUTION è il primo singolo dell’album che ci porta senza timori a restare veri rockers per portare avanti la rock revolution che gli Ancillotti da sempre incarnano sia in studio che soprattutto live. Il melodico ritornello sarà sicuramente cantato a squarciagola nei concerti, accompagnando la voce ed il carisma di Bud, che rendono questo pezzo un vero inno Rock e Metal.
Torna la Guerra nella successiva FIREWIND, con dei testi più melanconici controbilanciati da una canzone veloce, heavy-speed, che esalta nuovamente il duo chitarra/batteria con le linee del basso di Bid che abbracciano il tutto armonizzandolo. Nella seconda parte della canzone, un suono ritmato evoca la marcia dei soldati enfatizzando la tragedia e l’ineluttabilità della guerra. WE ARE COMING è la canzone manifesto degli Ancillotti, capace di rendere davvero partecipi dei sentimenti e della passione per la vita on the road votata a portare il Rock ovunque sia possibile, con eccitazione e passione reciproche insieme ai fans. BLESSED BY FIRE, centro dell’album, è una canzone dai testi molto toccanti in cui la vera guerra non è quella finora descritta ma consiste nel supportare ed essere vicini alle sofferenze di chi ci è amico cercando di trasmettere un sacro fuoco per un ultimo bagliore di Vita con la V maiuscola.
BROKEN ARROW prende il nome dal nativo americano, protagonista della canzone, che si trova a combattere per la propria terra ed il proprio popolo. La canzone è la più melodica dell’intero album e la voce forte e carica di pathos di Bud chiarisce che l’argomento trattato è certamente uno dei più sentiti dalla band. Il ritornello, avvolto ed enfatizzato dall’assolo di chitarra, rende questa canzone una delle mie preferite dell’album. ANOTHER WORLD inizia veloce con un incredibile riff di chitarra, causa di sicuro headbanging sfrenato in sede di concerto, che ricrea perfettamente l’opposto dualismo di un senso di tristezza per la pessima condizione del mondo odierno e, al contempo, la speranza per un nuovo mondo a venire. Nell’urlo di “Hear me calling” c’è tutto il desiderio di un cambiamento per il meglio. Ancora una volta da segnalare l’ottima prova di Ciano presente ad alti livelli per tutta la canzone.
Il banditore del Circo Oscuro, tra orrori, incubi e mali indicibili, annuncia FRANKENSTEIN, una pura e diretta canzone heavy style dove lo stile di Brian risplende in gran evidenza e la voce a tratti roca di Bud riesce a ricreare abilmente i pensieri e i suoni gutturali della voce della triste creatura il cui unico errore è stato di essere stato creato “mostro”. La canzone è dedicata a tutti quei diversi che non riescono ad amare ed essere amati come meriterebbero essendo anche loro esseri umani come tutti gli altri. Tra le migliori dell’album.
TILL THE END, secondo singolo estratto dall’album, chiude il lavoro in una maniera incredibile risultando essere un vero pugno nello stomaco diretto e sferzante, una delle migliori canzoni heavy metal italiane, che richiama i più gloriosi giorni del metal. Impossibile non seguire il ritmo con la testa e non cantare a voce alta “Oh keep your head, life is ours I say”. Non vedo l’ora di essere sotto il palco a scatenarmi con gli Ancillotti e con tutti i fans per portare avanti la sacra battaglia!
