Unexpected like a thunder in this calmness inflicted by the lockdown, it arrives the new EP by the Italian’s and world’s forerunners of Thrash/Black/Death metal. Neraka follows “The Age of Dead Christ” and the reissue of the masterpiece “Fragments of Insanity” and present us an inspired band able to write three bonecrusher tracks in authentic Necrodeath style.
EP opens with INFERNO, pure Thrash song able to depict the sound’s hellish dimension in which the band navigates, frequent rhythm changes where the great work by Pier Gonella and the always scratchy vocal sound by Flegias show the incredible old-school style of the whole band together with the ability to vary its own musical proposal in an absolutely original way. PETRIFY and SUCCUBUS RISES are two authentical thrash jibes! Those tracks are moving as well on different extreme musical patterns but, in my opinion, it’s Flegias to launch the most powerful attack combined with Pier’s guitar riffs and with the rhythmic section by GL and Peso.
EP is enriched by the inclusion of the live version of FLAME OF MALIGNANCE (taken from the 1999 masterpiece “Mater of all Evil”) that provides a clear example of the power that the band is able to release during concerts and by CALIFORNIA UBER ALLES, Dead Kennedys’ cover, arranged in a completely personal way with an incredible musical wickedness.
This successfully produced EP is another proof of how the band has been heavily underestimated (from a commercial point of view) during those last decades. If this is the starter of the next full-length from the Genova’s band we can just eagerly wait for another upcoming masterpiece.

E come un tuono nel mezzo della quiete imposta dal lockdown arriva quasi del tutto inaspettato questo nuovo EP degli alfieri del thrash/death/black italiano e mondiale Necrodeath. Neraka che succede a “The Age of dead Christ” ed al rifacimento del masterpiece “Fragments of Insanity” ci consegna un gruppo ispirato capace di comporre tre pezzi spaccaossa in pieno stile Necrodeath.
Si parte con INFERNO brano prettamente thrash in grado di rendere la dimensione infernale del sound in cui si muove la band, diversi cambi di ritmo con un gran lavoro di Pier Gonnella ed il cantato sempre graffiante di Flegias mostrano tutta la classe old school della band ma anche la capacità di rendere varia la propria proposta in maniera assolutamente originale. PETRIFY e SUCCUBUS RISES sono delle autentiche sassate thrash! Anche qui i pezzi si muovono su diverse sonorità estreme ma a mio parere è Flegias a sferrare un attacco frontale senza precedenti accompagnato però da un gran lavoro di Pier e della sezione ritmica di GL e Peso.
L’EP viene impreziosito dalla presenza della versione live di FLAME OF MALIGNANCE (estratto dal capolavoro del 1999 “Mater of all evil”) che da esempio della potenza che la band è in grado di sprigionare in sede live e dalla cover dei Dead Kennedys CALIFORNIA UBER ALLES eseguita assolutamente in maniera personale e con una cattiveria sonora impressionante.
L’EP è ben riuscito e dimostra ancora una volta come la band sia stata sottovalutata (dal punto di vista commerciale) in tutti questi decenni. Se questo è l’antipasto del futuro full lenght dei genovesi non possiamo far altro che aspettare fiduciosi in un ennesimo capolavoro.
