I'll get straight to the point. With Close, Messa gave life to a real metal/rock opera! The Doom proposed by the band since its beginning has evolved by clinging to an inspired rock and to almost shamanic melodies in which Sara's voice acts as a dimensional portal. The band's work is varied, dynamic and elusive. Atmospheres linked to the Earth and traditions are completely twisted by sudden Doom/Stoner breaks in the opener SUSPENDED. A rock and captivating mood makes the following DARK HORSE absolutely trance-like, as the music (the real one) in ORPHALESE captures the listener above all through ancient sounds of incredible suggestiveness.
RUBEDO alternates heavier moments with other more melodic thrilling ones in a completely uniqueness of the band, and in which the extraordinary performance of the vocalist, in addition to the extraordinary guitar solo, should be emphasized again and again. Other musical dimensions from other times in HOLLOW introduce the fantastic PILGRIM, the first single extract and fundamental piece, capable of gathering the essence of doom and the Mediterranean/oriental soul so dear to Messa. 0-2 is an authentic musical and dreamlike journey that every music lover in general must be able to allow himself in his life. IF YOU WANT HER TO BE TAKEN turns out to be as delicate as it is deep through an enveloping sound that captivates thanks to an always bewitching voice then broken by LEFFOTRAK, sudden and unexpected Black Metal instrumental interlude that anticipates the conclusive and stupendous suite SERVING HIM, container of all the fantastic facets of that musical entity that the Messa are today.
We have really been able to feel how the concept of escape from the reality, in which we lived in recent years, is well represented in Close's lyrics (anticipation given by the same band in the FoS interview published a few months ago and accessible by clicking here ), but above all we have had confirmation of being in front of an absolute masterpiece that every music lover must make his own.

Vado dritto al punto. Con Close i Messa hanno dato vita ad una vera e propria metal/rock opera! Il Doom proposto sin dagli esordi dalla band si è evoluto aggrappandosi ad un rock ispirato e a delle melodie quasi sciamaniche in cui è la voce di Sara a fare da portale dimensionale. Il lavoro della band è vario, dinamico e inafferrabile. Atmosfere legate alla terra ed alla tradizione vengono stravolte da improvvisi affondi Doom/Stoner nell’opener SUSPENDED. Un mood rock e accattivante rende la successiva DARK HORSE assolutamente da trance, così come la musica (quella vera) in ORPHALESE cattura l’ascoltatore soprattutto attraverso suoni antichi di rara suggestività.
RUBEDO alterna momenti più heavy ad altri più melodici da brividi in un’unicità tutta della band, ed in cui è da sottolineare nuovamente la straordinaria performance della vocalist oltre allo straordinario assolo di chitarra. Ancora dimensioni sonore di altri tempi in HOLLOW introducono la fantastica PILGRIM, primo singolo estratto e brano fondamentale, capace di raccogliere l’essenza doom e l’anima mediterranea/orientale tanto cara ai Messa. 0-2 e’ un autentico viaggio musicale e onirico che ciascun amante della musica in generale deve sapersi concedere nella propria esistenza. IF YOU WANT HER TO BE TAKEN risulta essere delicata quanto profonda attraverso un avvolgente sound che rapisce grazie ad una voce sempre ammaliante spezzata poi da LEFFOTRAK, improvviso e inaspettato intermezzo strumentale Black Metal che anticipa la conclusiva e stupenda suite SERVING HIM, contenitore di tutte le fantastiche sfaccettature di quell’entità musicale che sono oggi i Messa.
Abbiamo avuto modo di constatare come il concetto di evasione dalla realtà in cui si è vissuto negli ultimi anni sia ben rappresentato nei testi di Close (anticipazione data dalla stessa band nell’intervista da FoS pubblicata qualche mese fa e raggiungibile cliccando qui), ma soprattutto abbiamo avuto conferma di essere davanti ad un capolavoro assoluto che ciascun seguace della musica deve far suo.
